Elite level support has included Medical Officer to Team GB at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games, GBMO for Ice Hockey UK, Team Doctor for Dundee Stars Ice Hockey Team as well as numerous posts with the Scottish Institute of Sport, Scottish Football Association and Scottish Rugby Union. He will also undertake the role of Head of Medical Services/Head Doctor for the Scottish Commonwealth Games team for Delhi in 2010.

Links with the Scottish and Area Institutes of Sport are strong and quarterly educational meetings for the local Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy providers are facilitated by TFIS.

Dr Elliott is available weekly at TFIS Offices as well as clinics in Broughty Ferry, Kings Cross Hospital (Dundee) and the Sports Medicine Injury Clinic, Fernbrae Hospital.

Physiotherapy

TFIS work with a network of highly skilled and sports minded physiotherapists throughout the region. This ensures that all TFIS supported athletes have access to expert physiotherapy assessment and treatment. Intervention can be both reactive and preventative to ensure that athletes have minimal interruption to their training and competition programmes.

In addition to treatment, annual profiling helps to identify any movement dysfunctions or areas of weakness/tightness which could possibly contribute to future injury or limit performance.

Our physiotherapists work closely with athlete, coach, performance manager, sports doctor, strength and conditioning and other support staff.

Maggie Hendry started with TFIS in 2008 as our first Physiotherapy Co-ordinator and this is a significant step forwards in the organisations evolution. Originally from Elgin, she is a Scottish capped hockey player and a former Scottish captain of the Scottish under 21 side and Universities teams. After qualifying from Edinburgh's Queen Margaret College in 1997, Maggie's first post was at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. She worked at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Orthopaedics for four years and had two lengthy spells of work in New Zealand. The most recent between 2004 and 2007, working in elite sports clinics with international athletes from hockey, netball, rugby, triathlon and cycling. She will also undertake a Physiotherapist role for the Scottish Commonwealth Games team for Delhi in 2010.

Maggie currently combines her role as TFIS Physiotherapy Co-ordinator with a career in private practice.
